William Ricketts began work on his sanctuary in 1934 and continued on it until his death in 1993. The William Ricketts Sanctuary in Mt Dandenong, Australia was bought by the government of Victoria in the 1970s and turned into a state park.
A truly magical place in the heart of one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. It’s difficult to describe the feeling you have exploring this place. It’s very spiritual, and one of my favourite Australian places.
These photos were taken in 2006 and were a small part of a particularly spectacular day for photography in the Dandenongs.
